Sewit Teckie, MD

Dr. Teckie is a radiation oncologist who is System Chief, Clinical Affairs at New York City Health and Hospitals, responsible for affiliation relationships and clinical initiatives involving provider strategy and staffing models. She joined the health system as System Chief of Radiation Oncology in February 2022. She remains System Chief of Oncology and Radiation Oncology at NYC H+H, responsible for planning and implementation of cancer programs.

Dr. Teckie is nationally recognized for her clinical and research expertise.  She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She is on the Editorial Board of several publications including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics. She is widely published in the fields of head-and-neck cancer and digital health technology.

Dr. Teckie is originally from Eritrea in East Africa. She was born in Eswatini and grew up in Ottawa, Canada and Yonkers, NY. She attended Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, followed by residency and Chief Residency at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She has an executive MBA from Columbia University where she received the Dean’s Award with Distinction and was selected as class graduation speaker. She lives in New York City with her husband and three children.
